Petcube Care Subscription Explained: Free vs Optimal vs Premium

You do not need Care just to use a Petcube camera live

Petcube’s current cameras include free live video. The paid Care plans are mainly about what happens when you are not actively watching: recorded history, smart alerts, browser access, downloads and other cloud features.

Free

The free experience keeps live streaming available but does not provide the same stored video history or smart-alert package as a paid plan.

Optimal

Petcube currently positions Optimal as the everyday paid tier, with three days of video history, short recorded clips, smart alerts, web access, a limited number of downloads, Daily Diary videos and smart filters. Petcube advertises different monthly and annual effective prices, so check the current checkout rather than relying on an old article.

Premium

Premium expands history to as much as 90 days and adds broader coverage features such as unlimited cameras and online-vet access in Petcube’s current plan comparison. This tier makes more sense for households with several cameras or owners who actively use long history and downloads.

Which plan should you choose?

Start by asking whether you need recorded evidence of what happened while you were away. If live check-ins are enough, stay free. If event history and alerts are the reason you bought the camera, the subscription becomes much easier to justify.
