Plan on regular filter replacement
Petcube recommends replacing the Fountain filter around every four weeks. That makes replacement filters a recurring ownership cost rather than an occasional accessory.
The filter does not replace cleaning
Hair, saliva, food particles, mineral deposits and biofilm can still collect on the bowl, tank, seams and water-moving components. Inspect those areas routinely instead of waiting for an app reminder or a visible decline in water flow.
Dishwasher-safe versus hand-wash parts
Petcube says the removable ceramic or stainless-steel upper tray can go in a dishwasher. The filter and base components should be handled according to the manufacturer’s cleaning guidance rather than being treated as dishwasher-safe by default.
Watch refill frequency too
The Petcube Fountain holds 1.7 liters. A single cat may go several days between refills, while several pets or a larger dog can empty it much faster. Maintenance schedules should reflect actual use rather than a fixed calendar alone.
