PETLIBRO Polar Smart Wet Food Feeder

A wet-food feeder, not a miniature refrigerator

The PETLIBRO Polar is built around a problem that ordinary hopper feeders do not solve: a cat may eat canned or other moist food, but the owner still needs to serve measured meals while away from the bowl. Instead of using a frozen ice pack, Polar uses thermoelectric cooling beneath a three-section tray and opens the scheduled compartment when it is time to eat.

That distinction matters, but so does the temperature claim. PETLIBRO says that in its laboratory, with a 77°F room, Polar can cool food to around 54°F. That can slow bacterial growth, but it is warmer than the roughly 40°F temperature people normally associate with a kitchen refrigerator. The safest way to think about Polar is therefore as a purpose-built timed wet-food feeder with active cooling—not as unlimited cold storage.

Three meals and app scheduling

The tray has three meal sections, each rated for about 200 mL or 6.76 oz. The PETLIBRO app handles feeding plans, repeat schedules, meal duration, and manual control. About 30 minutes before a scheduled meal, cooling pauses so the food is less cold when the lid opens. That makes the product especially relevant for cats that reject fridge-cold food.

Three positions are enough for a day of smaller meals or a short absence, but they are a hard capacity limit. A household that wants a larger series of pre-portioned meals should compare a six-meal refrigerated design such as PetSafe FreshFeed rather than assuming Polar can replace a long-duration feeder.

Food choice is a real limitation

PETLIBRO specifically recommends avoiding raw food in Polar because raw diets can be highly perishable and have variable safe holding times. That is an important difference from marketing that simply groups every moist diet together. Commercial canned, pouch, semi-moist, or other foods should still be handled according to the food maker’s instructions and the feeder manual.

Polar also should not be used to dispense medicine or supplements unless current manufacturer guidance explicitly permits it. If a cat’s meal schedule is part of medical treatment, the feeding plan belongs with a veterinarian rather than being improvised around a smart appliance.

Power failure: useful backup, but do not overread it

PETLIBRO advertises 12-hour power-outage protection when three AA batteries are installed. The wording on the current product page says the feeding schedule continues on backup power. It does not say that AA batteries provide full refrigeration. For food safety, a prolonged outage should therefore be treated conservatively: check the food and cooling conditions rather than assuming the tray stayed at its normal temperature.

Cleaning and fit

The current stainless-steel bowl is dishwasher-safe, which is a useful upgrade for a product that regularly touches wet food. The cooling cavity still needs manual attention because condensation can collect there; PETLIBRO recommends wiping it dry after a feeding plan. Seams, lid edges, and the area beneath the removable tray should also be kept free of residue.

Fit can matter more than expected. Polar is 7.7 inches tall and the edge of the opening is about 6.1 inches high. PETLIBRO recommends a cat shoulder height of at least 6.1 inches for comfortable use, so a very small kitten is not the ideal target.

Who Polar makes sense for

The strongest use case is an adult cat that already eats wet food and needs a few scheduled meals without someone physically opening a can at every feeding. It is much less compelling for a dry-food household, a raw-food routine, or anyone who needs true 40°F refrigeration. Compared with a passive ice-pack feeder, Polar offers more control and less freezer preparation; compared with PetSafe FreshFeed, it gives up meal count and lower-temperature refrigeration in exchange for a compact three-meal format.
